Fabrics of Time

In her ongoing project Fabrics of Time, Mikal Brejaart draws inspiration from the tactile nature of fabric. She translates textile structures into visual rhymes using the precious, unyielding material of glass, resulting in a rhythmic interplay of line and surface.

In the kiln, the glass melts at high temperatures into a complex network that is not only a visual expression but also a gateway to the imagination. It invites a deeper understanding of the world around us, and of the inner experience that connects us.

Through a phased process, Mikal Brejaart seeks harmonious repetition, creating a world of her own, one that slows down the tempo of everyday life. In her contemplative experience, there is no need to capture emotion in words; instead, she translates her inner world into visual language.
